This policy explains how we handle website, account and call information when you use Vet Answering Line. Review the collection, retention and request details before trying the recorded browser demo or starting your clinic's trial.

Who operates Vet Answering Line
TypeScience, trading as Vet Answering Line, operates this website and the receptionist service. This policy describes the information we collect from website visitors, customer businesses and people calling those businesses. It also covers demo calls and chats on our website.
For privacy questions and requests, email [email protected]. For help using the service or your account, email [email protected]. These contacts let you raise questions before a trial, while using the service or after your account closes.
Customer businesses and their callers
Our customers are businesses that sign up for the receptionist service. People who call a customer's business are callers, and their information is handled as part of providing that business's call answering service. A pet owner can therefore have information processed through Vet Answering Line without opening an account with us.
For caller data, the customer business decides what information is collected and why. We process that information on the business's behalf, with data processing terms included in our terms of service. Callers can ask the business or contact us about information from their calls.
Account, billing and setup information
We collect account details such as your name, business name, email address and phone number. Billing is handled by our payment processor, and we do not store full card numbers. We use account and billing details to provide your account and administer the subscription.
We also collect your onboarding answers and content from the website you point us to. That information helps the receptionist answer as your business, using the services, hours and call instructions you provide. If you update your instructions, those settings become part of how we operate the service for you.
Information from calls
We collect call audio, recordings, transcripts, summaries and caller numbers. These records support call handling and give your clinic the information needed to review messages and decide what to do next. A call about boarding, for example, can produce a message for your staff to review.
At the start of each call, the receptionist identifies itself as a virtual assistant and says the call is recorded. Those notices cannot be switched off. The service sends your clinic an email and app push notification with a summary, urgency tag, transcript and recording, and provides a daily digest email.
Browser demos and website chats
Demo calls and chats on this website are recorded and transcribed to show the result. The fictional business scenarios let visitors hear how the receptionist gathers a message or handles an appointment request. Using the demo therefore involves processing the conversation you have with it.
The browser demo does not require signup. Its recordings and transcripts are still information collected through this site, even when you do not become a customer. Review this policy before using a demo call or chat if you have questions about that processing.
Website analytics and cookies
We use privacy-friendly analytics and Google Analytics to understand website use. Google Analytics uses cookies. Website analytics is a separate collection purpose from handling a pet owner's call to your clinic.
If you have questions about website analytics or want to make an opt-out request, email [email protected]. You can use the same contact for questions about the other information described in this policy. We never sell personal information.
Why we use information
We use account details, onboarding answers and the website content you provide to set up and operate your receptionist. We use call information to answer callers, produce messages and make the call records available to your clinic. The dashboard provides calls, transcripts, recordings, usage and settings for your review.
Calls, website and demo chats, recordings, transcripts and summaries of trial and customer accounts may be reviewed by authorized staff for quality, support and abuse prevention. Access is limited to those purposes.
Your clinic can choose Google Calendar booking or appointment request intake for a callback. Your call instructions also determine urgent call routing to your on-call person. These uses serve your business's call handling needs; we never use callers' data for our own marketing.
Providers that help deliver the service
We use service providers for hosting and storage, telephone service, AI voice and text processing, payment processing, email delivery and analytics. These categories describe the services involved in operating the website and receptionist. For example, handling a telephone conversation involves telephone carriers and AI processing.
Our AI model provider, OpenAI, does not use our API data to train its models by default. This default training policy does not mean the provider avoids processing call information to deliver the service. You can email us with questions about provider processing before deciding to forward your business calls.
How long call records are kept
Your business chooses a recording retention period of 30 or 90 days. We keep recordings for that selected period, then delete them. The recording choice applies to recordings; transcripts and summaries have the separate retention schedule below.
We keep transcripts and summaries while the account is open. They are deleted within 30 days after the account closes or on request. Contact [email protected] if you want to request deletion or ask how these retention choices apply to your information.
Access, correction, deletion and opt-out requests
You can email [email protected] to request access to information, correction, deletion or an opt-out. Callers may contact the customer business or us. If your question concerns a call to a veterinary clinic, identify that business and describe the information your request concerns.
For callers' data, the business determines the collection purpose and we process the information on its behalf. California residents may exercise their rights where they apply. Send requests or questions to the privacy contact so you can describe the information or use you want addressed.
Children and policy changes
Vet Answering Line is not for children under 13. This policy covers visitors, customer businesses and callers as described above. Questions about information involving a child can be sent to [email protected].
We date changes to this policy on this page. Check the last updated date when reviewing how information is handled. You can also read our security information for the call disclosures, provider use and retention controls described for the service.
